I dont know if I will get in, it seen very competitive!...I think there is a lot of people applying to the program, because many did not make the reading score for the RN and decide to apply to the LPN to advance. Someone told me that the City Colleges changed the deadline for the RN program like 3 times during the spring semestre because many people did not score enough in the reading part of the TEAS, and guess what? The majority of those people applied to the LPN. I feel so nervous, but if it is meant to be for us it will be. I guess we have to be possitives, but yes it is going to be very competitive.

The day that I went to talk to an academic advisor, I saw a girl that not was even City Colllege of Chicago student trying to apply to the program. The advisor told me that this semestre they were accepting applications from people that were students at another institutions outside of the City Colleges. I thougth mean it will increase the number of people applying to the summer program, and make it more competitive.

TRw81,

You should apply to the RN program. You meet the criteria in the TEAS score in reading and overall score for the RN.

Hi KatyCNA,

I actually applied to the RN program too, but thanks for the suggestion :)

Good for you! That was my plan A, but sadly I did not score enougth on the TEAS...because I still having a chance to take the TEAS again, I may go and try in the next few weeks before the deadline and see what happens!...I took already micro and chem, I was kind of ready for the RN. However, if I can get into the LPN I will be happy as it is kind of the same thing but going in another direction. I think you will have to decide what do you want to do if you are accepted in the LPN, because the classes will start in June 3. The RN program will let people know by May 29 (like 3 or 4 days before the LPN classes start, very short amount of time) but knowing the way the City Colleges do things it make take longer for you to know. (Hopelful not, but it may happen). But, good for you at least have plan A and B.

Goodluck to u &I think we'll get in, like you said we just have to stay positive. Yes they did change the RN DEADLINE because there wasn't enough applicants! But I'm praying for the best!!!

Please keep in touch and I hope we all in this forum are accepted. It will be so nice to meet people who are going to be your future classmates!..

Yes I will and I hope so also...

Yes, you are correct, I've got a decision to make. I think I'm mostly leaning toward LPN because I can work as a LPN while finishing a LPN to BSN program. If I go this route, I will complete BSN around the same time as the RN program at CCC. It makes much more sense. So, to me, the RN program is my plan B.

Good for you getting all of your requirements out the way, it'll be a relief to not have those science courses in addition to nursing courses. I worked really have to get all only my requirements out the way for that very purpose, so from now to BSN, I only have nursing courses.

Good luck to us all!!

Trw81,

It sounds like you have a very good plan. May I ask you where are you planning to complete the LPN to BSN program? I think that is something that I may be interested in. I would like to complete the BSN at the same speed of the RN program. It seems that we have been working in the same. I have been working in all the pre-req to complete the BSN, so when the time goes rigth I can just jump to take the nursing classes and don't have to be worried or spend extra time taking more pre-request for the BSN. Please let me know where are you planning to complete that program LPN to BSN. I really hope we can make it to the LPN program, so we can meet in person and talk more in detail about our plans. :)

I'm sure we will meet! I plan to attend St. Xavier, for LPN TO BSN
