Hello All
I recently applied to Widener University's Accelerated BSN program . I am currently awaiting a decision letter and I am so anxious. Has anyone else applied to the program and/or received a decision already ?
I did end up going. Currently finishing up my first round of clinicals.
As Salamu Alaykum. I got into their accelerated nursing program that starts this fall. I was told it was 18 months and $480 per credit, so I got my financial aid and called again to confirm the price. I was then told its a 21 month program and actually $100k. I freaked out, it is so expensive. I am just confused on what the actual program cost. How do you cover what financial aid doesn't cover?
Wa alaikum as salaam, sis. It is expensive. It really depends on if you'll end up having to stay on campus or not because that will greatly increase the cost. You'll have to seek alternative means to fill in the financial aid gap. You can do scholarships. Also the financial aid office doesn't know what they're talking about. Lots of us were having the same problem with that office while trying to figure out how to cover the summer expenses. Did you get a good offer package? Also sorry for the late reply I'm in finals and its back to back quizzes and exams. I barely have time to do self care.

AWW! it will be worth it! keep it up Masha Allah! I ended up declining it. I am a off campus student, I wish that made it better as far as price lol. I will be attending a different school. So at first, the lady at nursing department didn't know much of the price... she transferred me to the financial aid lady that deals with the accelerated program. She was the one that quoted me the 109k. I was so shocked. I only received 24k for the fall semester. I know taking loans is the only way but I really don't want to be in debt of 100k. I hate that they call it accelerated when its two academic year. I heard really great things about their nursing school. The thought of the price made me run!!
Hi, I did follow through with it and graduated. Overall the AC program was, "okay." There were a lot of bumps that should have been figured out before we started which were super annoying.
They do curve your grade depending on how the class does which was a bonus to a lot of students. If I had a choice to do it all over again I would have gone somewhere cheaper since I had to fund my education myself and you end up with the same degree.
Some of the teachers were excellent and showed that they really cared while others were worse than subpar, but, you might find that with any program you attend.
Thank you so much for taking time to respond! Congrats on your graduation!
I really wanted it to be a good program, this was one of my top choices and I already have all the prerequisites they require but I keep hearing not so good things, so now I am in a dilemma. My other choice is Neumann University, since it needs to be close to where I live, but haven’t heard good things about that one as well.
Do you mind me asking if a lot of your peers have failed the program before taking nclex?
I am quite worried about the whole “accelerated” thing and how easy they kick you out of the program.
The advisors weren’t able to provide any statistics, unfortunately, I guess it’s not in their best interest...
You mentioned a lot of bumps in the program, can you give an example?
I apologize if it’s too many questions, I can’t seem to find anyone who can help me with a review from a student’s perspective.
Thank you!

Do you mind sharing what your cumulative GPA was and what your science GPA was that got you into Widener?
