Have you noticed how much SEIU is doing for the Swedish negotiations? The Harborview contract expires in July 2011 as well. SEIU has done ABOSLUTELY NOTHING except to take our union dues. I hope Swedish gets a good contract because Harborview union dues are going to Swedish's contract. Does anyone know how to go about getting a union out of their hospital?

If Washington State Nurses are smart, they will dump worthless unions like SEIU and WSNA, and bring in the NAtional National Nurse United, an get the ball rolling in Washington.
If it makes you feel better, things are HORRIBLE in Spokane, with WSNA.They have done NOTHNG FOR PROVIDENCE SACRED HEART AND HOLY fAMILY, AND SEIU HAS DONE NOTHING FOR THE NURSES WORKING FOR EMPIRE HEALTH, SO MUCH SO, THAT DEACONESS VOTED THEM OUT ABOUT TWO YEARS AGO. They are now helpless and at the mercy of Community Health. You know, the people are figting new bills and furthering the shortage of Bedsde Nurses.
Nurses are some of the most gullible people that I know, who would rather work for peanuts, no benefits to speak of, NO job security. But when you mention the work UNION, the first thing that comes out of their mouth is, "I don't like unions- they are just not professiona!". They have no idea what unions can do for you, but they don't like them anyway. Stupid is as stupid does. What else can I say?

You don't want WSNA! We have SEIU and they stuck with us through a nasty battle. It took a year but we did quite well.
The one complaint I did have is them not even stepping in to start negotiations until the day OF the expiration of the contract.
If you have questions, why not call and ask them?
