Why, oh why is this taking so long????

I just need a moment to vent my frustration about waiting to hear from the selection board.

My application has been complete since the first week in December. I missed that board since there was only one and was excited to get news in January. Then I hear that the January boards have been canceled. More waiting. My application went before the board on Feb 5 and I STILL haven't heard anything. I'm going out of my mind. I would think that since another board meets this Tuesday that they would either say "yes" or "no" on Monday so they can move on to new applications.

I'm getting so nervous that I won't be selected. I have 3 yrs of OB/GYN experience and I have my MSN. I am requesting to enter the AF as an OB generalist and I gave my top three choices as Lackland, Langley, and Elmendorf (I chose those because I was advised by a Maj who is the Perinatal Educator at Lackland that those are the three busiest OB locations according to the most recent numbers.)

Don't get me wrong, I know that there is a process and we all have to endure it, but waiting to hear something is completely agonizing! Okay, rant is over.

It's true....in Houston where I am, there is only one office that recruits nurses. There are also only two recruiters in that office that recruit nurses, the others recruit doctors. I feel for the gentleman that has taken on the task of my application because he normally recruits doctors. The process for nurses is much different but he certainly working hard (often calls me on weekends and late in the evening). I continue to have faith. I am completely willing to wait for an answer as long as everyone is honest. As for your suggestion about the meeting WTB, I think that's a great idea. When it was taking a long time to get an interview I emailed the Maj I know and asked her what might possibly be holding up the process and asked if she had any suggestions. I had an interview the next week...lol.

Thanks again ya'll. It's nice to have the advice and support of others.

Just wanting you to know I'm rooting for ya! I know how drawn out the process can be---I hope you get your answer soon.

Okay, I'm now headed into 1 month and still no word. What is killing me is that my current job has offered me an opportunity to cross-train to L&D if I'm willing to stay. I work at a trauma hospital and we get really high acuity pt's and L&D here would be an awesome experience. I feel like I'm putting my life on hold while waiting to hear. I spoke to the Maj that was preceptor at WHMC and she laughed when I told her how anxious I was. She said "You think waiting is hard now, wait until you are up for a promotion--it takes forever!" At this point I don't know what to do. I'm not getting younger and I hate to put my career on hold only to find out I was a non-select. Again, thanks for listening!

:nurse::urgycld:Hello!!!!

I'm so sorry that you have to go through this waiting....... just hang in there.. hopefully you will hear something very soon.... take care and try to relax.......

FINALLY! I found out today that I was selected. They haven't found a "spot" for me yet so I have no idea where I'm going after COT. My tentative COT date is May, which means I'll be catching that awesome summer heat and humidity in the south (although I supposed it can't be worse than Houston). Thanks for the support ya'll. I can't wait to get this show on the road!

CONGRATULATIONS!!!:clpty:

Actually, it will probably be quite a bit cooler there than it is in Houston, but your couple of days in the "field" might be a little uncomfortable...at least by AF standards....lol

Make sure you don't forget your shot record...unless you like be a giant pin cushion, and study your OIs that our on the COT website those will be the majority of your 1st test at COT.
