In the clinical area why are nurses getting shouted at and bullied by MD'S
your post assumes that nurses are getting routinely bullied by physicians. i haven't found that assumption to be the case.
i never said they are routinely bullied, it has happened and it can happen... i am a medical doctor and has a degree in nursing and registered here in the philippines and also in the state of vermont, so i know both worlds... currently i do engage in reviews for nclex/cgfns. it a sad thing that nurses are unappreciated its always the md's that has the credit, hospitals not always but often times sided with md's if there is a problem between md's and nurses, why? simple reason that md's do bring patient and income for the hospital, what about the nurses? it's always the md's who get the advantage...
Personally I think it depends on the hospital and what sort of setting you are in. I used to work in a community hospital and now I am in a teaching hospital. I did encounter that in a community hospital but where I am now I many times get more respect from the attending than the resident/intern receives from their attending. When they are rounding I try to make myself available if possible and many times I am able to provide more info to them that the interns/residents aren't able to. I think it upsets them but we're all a team with one common goal and we just need to remember that.
