What makes nursing school so hard? Would like to hear from those who are currently going to or who have been through nursing school - what made it the most challenging for you? Please be specific.

Nursing school is hard and stressful, for sure. However, just wait until you are a licensed nurse. You will hold lives in your hands - literally. That is harder and more stressful than anything you will experience in nursing school.

this is my third year coming back into the nursing program. Since Fall 2009, by midterm i would fail so bad that i have no choice but to drop so that I want pick up a nursing failure. The hardest thing for me is reading. Its so much material and so little time to take it all in. Especially when it comes down to trying to manage all the reading and assignments, tests, ATI practice, NCLEX Practice, tutorials, working, organizations, and life issues. Its hard trying to find a balance. What's hurting me is that im not a Good Reader or test taker. In clinicals, I am superb. In the classroom is a different story. I have been getting help but the help that I am getting isnt working fast enough so that I can get the GPA back that I had when I was taking Prerequisites. Oh and these instructors kill me with these test where all the answers are correct and you have to your critical thinking, apply the nursing process as will as A-B-C-S (AIRWAY-BREATHING-CIRCULATION-SAFETY) to come up with the correct answer. Im holding on right now but I would love to at least see a B for a change.

thank you for saying that ... I don't think it necessarily what makes a good nurse. Why do we insist making our lives miserable when it doesn't have to be. I hate the idea of weeding out and what if you're just a slow learner
