Why is it so hard for a nursing student to get a job?

Published

I have been searching for a part-time job in just about every hospital in this city since September and it's next to impossible to get an interview. Does anyone have any advice on how I should go about getting a ward clerk/unit assistant/ admitting rep/ ER rep position. I have a lot of administrative experience, but no one wants to hire me or call me for an interview. What's up with that? Am I the only one having this problem?

Specializes in Pediatrics.
I looked the information up on the web. Take the LIRR from Penn Station about a 45min train ride, and then you must take a bus (15min) or a cab to the hospital from the Port Washington train station. 1 hour sounds about right, b/c Rosalyn in very close to the border of Queens.

That's about right. Not a terribly long commute (at least it's a pleasant one on the LIRR). You could also get a monthly pass and save $$.
