Why Did You Choose Nursing?

Published

For all of us who still have the long journey of pre-reqs and then clinicals before we're officially a nurse.

Why did you choose to go to nursing school and become a nurse?

Are you doing your ASN or BSN?

What kind of nurse do you want to be (pediatrics, etc)?

And do you plan of eventually getting your NP?

Thank you so much Noel1221!

Did I read somewhere that you are going to PSC, (AKA PJC) in the spring of 2011? I start Pensacola State College this August and I am so excited and scared!

Specializes in Labor and Delivery.

Well I actually wanted to be a nurse when I was very little, many of my family members are in the medical field. I didn't go to college right after high school because I had a family tragedy and I had to pay my own way and couldn't. I started working in mortgages at a very young age and hated it. Thats when I decided to go back to school part-time and when I had to choose a major I knew nursing was what I wanted to do.

I am going for my bachelor's and hoping to start this winter semester. I do not have any idea what I would like to specialize in because I think I'll know that when I start to do my clinicals. I used to think I would love geriatrics bt I worked in home care and decided that was probably not for me, so I think I'll cross that bridge when I get there. I definately want to get my master's and am planning on doing that after both my liitle boys are in school :)
