Why do you want to be a nurse? Did something motivate you to pursue a career in nursing? In my opinion, I feel there is no other job as rewarding as being a nurse. But yeah, I'm just curious what your reasons are for choosing nursing. I seriously cannot wait til the day that I get to work in a hospital and have my own patients. I'm so excited!

I chose nursing because I love to be around people, I wanted to do something that was challenging but also helped others. I wanted a field where there is alot of opportunity and choices. I wanted job security. I wanted a career that if my husband got transfered I would be able to find a job no problem. I have all those things now. I also have a job where when I come home I am unbelievable tired and my mind turns for hours with the feeling that I forgot to chart something. I have worked every major holiday in the past year and missed numerous family functions, but I would have it no other way.I love it.

I'm a people person and I love to interact with people, and you get to see new people everyday. I love the thought of job security, and being able to help people, even if i personally dont save their life, knowing i made their day better is what matters to me. I want them to have the best experience they can have because most people are scared to go to the hospital/dr. office, so the better the experience for them, the better i feel that i've done my job!

I chose nursing while my husband was going through a nursing program. I never really considered it as a career for myself until I learned about all the interesting things he was doing in the program. Providing care for someone appeals to my nurturing side, while learning about all the scientific principles appeals to my nerd side.
Of course great pay, job stability, flexibility, opportunities for furthering my education/moving up the ladder are great bonuses too :chuckle

I think being a nurse is like being a mom in so many ways and since I've been a stay at home mom for almost 11 years now , it's something I feel very comfortable doing. I'm really a people pleaser and I'm fairly good at it. I also LOVE hospitals, the smell, sights , sounds & energy. I also love the reality t.v shows on The discovery channel like Trauma, Life in the E.R, Maternity Ward & such. My husband made a point to me one day when he said, instead of sitting on my butt watching this stuff, why don't I go out and get a job making money and do it instead of watching it all the time. I also like the wide spectrum that nursing offers. I also feel that God had a big hand in making me yearn to become a nurse.
