Wait wait wait...you guys are already getting interviews at schools at which you'll be starting next year in 07 sum or fall semesters right? Jeez, just HOW early are people sending in apps?
I'll be applying next summer for entrance in 08 to several schools. Most schools to which I'm applying have nov or dec deadlines...I was thinking I'd be all set if I sent everything in sept. 1 - is this not early enough??? If I need to send them at the beginning/mid summer I will. I know they all say "early application is recommended as there are limited seats" and other similar things, but do they really mean 6 months ahead of the deadline???
Yeah - about half of the schools I applied to have rolling admissions, so I just did all of my applications at once. Who knows if being early helps you or not. Probably not - except for the rolling admission schools.
I just applied a few weeks ago and my schools are still waiting for my transcripts to arrive. Fingers crossed.

I would think that when the deadline for this year's classes has past it would be okay to start firing away at your apps. I did all mine at once regardless of the deadlines. I had all my apps in 3-7 months prior to the deadlines. Start early because it takes awhile for everything to come together. I found that relying on your reference to write a letter or send your evaluation in the most difficult and time consuming part of the process. Most schools want the reference sent direct, so the earlier you have the app in then you can request your reference to be sent in. That gives you some cushion on those references you might use that are procrastinating your reference.
I am applying to 3.
Have sent in application to 2.
Third wanted me to send the recommendations with the app., so had to wait for the last of 3 recommendations. Second week in June the CT surg director mailed out the recommendations.
So, 2 of the 3 have everything within the last month, and I am mailing the 3rd tomorrow.
For August 2007.
I am currently an alternate for this fall at Wake Forest. If I should get that glorious call I will not be applying anyhwere else!! But I have applied to Western Carolina (new program slated to begin Jan '07 pending accredidation) deadline was June 15th and I haven't heard anything yet. I will also be reapplying to Wake Forest as well as applying to UNC Charlotte. Planning on sending my apps in to those schools in the beginning of August. Good luck to everyone out there sending in applications! Keep us posted, especially on those dreadfull interviews!
I am applying to 5, most of the schools I am applying to seem to want the apps. between Aug.-Nov. but a few of them said it was fine to get them in as early as I want. I am going to try to have everything done by early August. I have found the letters of reference to be the most time consuming as most the schools all have different forms. My friend who is applying to med school thought that having different forms for all the schools was crazy, but that's just the way it is. Also writing the essays is a bit time consuming as most the schools want a slightly different response/length.
Good luck to all! Soon the waiting game will begin!

My applications are all in for 2007 and 2008 (depending on the school). Who's with me? Let's bite our nails and wait by the phone for interview phone calls together.
