Hi...thanks! I have already checked there and found a range of salaries. But when I compared this to what I make here in Massachusetts I found it to be way off! So I thought I would ask around!

Thanks for the input though!!

Let me know what you find out. Also, cost of living is probably much cheaper there than in MA. What have you found the cost of housing to be like so far?

My husband and I want to move to that area someday.

Hi...

I have found so far that the prices of houses are about 15 -18 years behind what they are in Mass. which is a VERY GOOD THING!!! I am actually buying brand new (not even built yet) for at least 1/3 what it would cost me for 10 years old in MA. I have learned from a travel nurse agency that I can make $33/ hour + housing stipend of $800/month for a 13 week assignment. That is in acute care! So that's not too bad! It is about $5/hour less than here in MA! But I really would like to know about staff R.N. salaries!

Oh...and other cost of living differences:

For example:

Edy's Ice Cream = $5.00 1/2 gal in MA......$2.50 in NC

Bread (whole grain with nuts) = $3.79 in MA......$1.89 in NC

Gas = $1.95/gal in MA........$1.75/ gal in NC

Just a sampling....lol

Hope you are having a great weekend!!

$33/hr through an agency sounds about right. As you know, salary all depends on what shift and how much you work. You can certainly earn a decent living and I'm sure you'll find the cost of living much lower than MA, and probably have a much milder winter.

In the Piedmont-Triad (Greensboro - High Point - Winston-Salem), there are many hospitals to choose from and I'm sure with your experience you could get a good offer. It all depends on what type of facility you prefer and what kind of acuity you are comfortable working with.

Here's some links to the bigger hospitals in our area. For specific salary information, you should probably contact nurse recruitment.
