Who is on the waiting list for MCC?

Published

I will be turning in my application as soon as I get the fingerprint clearance card back, which should be in the next 1-3 weeks. I'm in the far west valley so any of the colleges are going to be a hike for me, and I'm struggling which to apply to.

Any thoughts or experiences to share?

Did you mean MCCCD? You probably should have titled your post "Who is on the waiting list for MCCCD?" which is Maricopa County Community College District. MCC is Mesa Community College. Why would you want to go there when Boswell has GOT to be closer for you. When I was on the waiting list, there were always slots available there.

I'm at Phoenix College and love it. It's at 11th Ave & Thomas. There's a couple of folks in our class that drive in from the West Valley. One of our clinical locations is at Thunderbird, which is on your side of town. Good luck to you!

Yes I did, thank you for the clarification. I always think of Maricopa County Colleges and leave out the Community, but then when reading posts I will read MCC as Mesa CC.

Yes, Mesa would be totally out of the question for me. Boswell would be the closest for me, then Glendale and Phoenix. But I've heard such good things about Gateway too, and then there is a certain appeal to the Rio hybrid program...its just so hard to decide which to apply to as first choice.

This week I plan to call around to each college and find out which programs they have starting and when they start. Hopefully that will help with my choices a bit.

hi! (:

i was looking into moving to the Phoniex area i heard the waiting list in only a semester at the Maricopa Community College Distric? here in San Diego its about 2 years on the list!! and it drives me crazy just thinking about that wait! and arizona is so much cheaper then san diego. so i was just wondering if u girls know if the program is good there, and also if you get an arizona license for nursing is it easy to nurse in different states? also ive sent a few emails to people at Maricopa but no one has respnded so id really appreciate any info you have!

As of this morning- There are 921 people on the "wait" list for MCCCD...Moog, if you live at West- You may want to look at Estrella Community COllege; they just started their program and last week- I heard they were trying to get people out there.. Call them... Good Luck.. And all of the Community Colleges use the same program for Nursing School. They just revamped to match the National Standards, that is why they dropped Nutrition and Patho and are working it "in", they said Maricopa Programs had too many credits so far compared to other places in the country..

Yes, I was looking at how many were on the waiting list earlier this week. The chart is a bit confusing in that it seems that there are open spots (for non-employees) for fall in some locations, which can't be true really. I wish there were a way to find out which campuses were the most popular, more for curiosity's sake than anything else.

I spoke with someone at Estrella since that is by far the closest for me but their program is only for Blocks 3 & 4 at this time. The West Valley Skill Center takes care of Blocks 1 & 2 there. She didn't know or wouldn't say what future plans are. Who knows, by the time I got to the top of the list Estrella might be a viable option. I did find out from Glendale that there is an accelerated program in the pipeline to start as early as next spring, but no details yet.

Still waiting on fingerprint clearance to apply.

Lindsay -- I would guess the waiting list to be about 1 year, or a bit more depending on which campus people are waiting for. I think 400 were placed for fall.

Staric -- Are you already in a program or on the list?

I applied for Mesa and Chandler-Gilbert back in January of this year on a non-contingent basis and was accepted for this fall. I deferred, though, need to get a little more ready financially and I just got accepted to Banner's Nurse Fellows program, so I'm glad I deferred! So anyhoo, the wait for me was only like 8 months. I got word I think back in June that I was accepted for Fall 2006.

Pfillbert, if you don't mind my asking, how was the interview process for the Banner Fellows program? I'm getting ready to submit my application for the March cohort. Did they give you any idea of the number of applicants they received?
