Who reports a nurse to the state’s BON?

Hi. If an RN is admitted to Rehab, does the rehab report their license to the state BON or their employer?

Once a coworker, they were fired from our hospital without being reported, hired by a private specialty practice and fired from there (for suspected drug use, without being reported and then recently was hired by another practice. Family got her into rehab but her employer is not aware.

A few questions. How do you know why she was fired from her second job? How do you know her current employer or the BON does not know. In most states If she is in her states monitoring program and she self reported then this info in confidential and her supervisors ( or whoever completes her reports) should be the only people who know.

I am close with the family.

This is their first time going to rehab. They have remained “active” on the state BON website. Our employer let them “resign” and told them they wouldn’t report them.

They cried a sob story to their current employer that they have a family emergency and they may be out for the next week (as they were getting in the car to go to rehab)

well anybody can report a nurse to the BON, family, patients, vengeful ex-spouse. You have to go in front of the board before they suspend or probate your license.

You sound upset she has not been reported. Addiction is a ***** and I assure you there are many people you would never imagine that are recovering addicts. Rehab might just turn her life around, maybe give her a chance
