Who does referrals in your office/clinic?

Published

Specializes in Oncology.

We order a couple hundred referrals per day (large practice) and I find that there are some employees who do no referrals and I end up doing like 25 a day! I have no time for anything else.

Who does the referrals in your workplace? Do the RNs, LPNs, CMAs?

I have to be in clinic and also do 30 other tasks no one does, I am drowning!

In my office the LPNs do the referrals. We don't have RNS just LPns and CMAs. It's also a small practice and we do things on "teams" a team is consist off an LPN, MA with a CNP or doctor.

I work in a busy office but we all do referrals. We work in teams- 2 clinical staff members (we have MAs, LPNs and RNs) to a doctor. Usually whoever is available when the doctor is finished will do the referral but if neither clinical member is available the doctor looks at the SOAP note for who roomed the patient and puts the referral info on their desk. And if the clinical staff are all busy the doctors sometimes do their own referrals. As a whole our office works as a team.
