Who pinned you?

Published

I'm graduating in May and I'm trying to decide who to ask. My class has decided to have a person of their choice pin each student. I would like to ask one of my nurse mentors to pin me, however, it seems like a lot of my classmates are having their family pin them. It's pretty important to me to have another nurse welcome me into the profession. But, I don't want to hurt my family's feelings if it's more traditional to for a family member to do it.

So, who pinned you?

And how was your graduation?

i had my BF, who is also a RN and went through the program with me, pin me :)

Our dean pinned us, she was a witchy hag and a horrendous teacher..I wish we could have chosen. I would have chosen some of my fellow classmates, we grew close like family and I would not have survived my acc-bsn program without them!

Lol... witchy hag?? Apparently, there's enough of them roaming around these days --- most of them aren't deans! :clown:

My dad pinned me.

We had to be pinned by a RN so some of my classmates who didn't know a RN that they were close with and didn't like any of their instructors opted not to go.

Our class was allowed to choose anyone. It is tradition that a nurse pin a new nurse. Luckily for me, the person I had pin me (my grandmother) is an RN. (:

That's ludicrous (not sure, if I spelled that right). If I go back to nursing school and graduate -- I only want a few people there. Honestly, just my mom and brothers. Maybe my future sis-in-law and nephew (if my younger brother is still with her at that time).

Anyway, asking faculty to pin me will probably be not a good idea. The last time I checked, only certain faculty are required to be in graduating ceremonies anyway. Also, nursing faculty have their own families to spend time with. I certainly do not want to impose on anyone. I'm almost sure faculty would rather be doing something else.

As far as looking for an RN to pin me, well, nursing schools don't bother to check anyway. A nurse is still a nurse (doesn't matter whether he/she is an LPN or an actual RN). I'm all set in this department.

Oh, and If I ever miss my own pinning ceremony --- the only reason for that is... it's because I'm in Hawaii, Europe or Asia. Other than that, I definitely will be there.
