Who is hiring LPNs ?

Hi,

I have been an LPN for 5 years now, but my job is about to go thru a new structural change. So I want to look for a new job before I am possiably let go, or my salary decreases more. We have already been thru 1 salary decrease. I know the job market is tight right now. Any help would be great.

You should try LTC facilities in your area. Walter Reed in DC has openings, and FMH has one LPN position open but its only 24 hours every other weekend. LPN's are being phased out of Maryland slowly but surely, Ive been searching for an entry level LPN job for months now :(

Extended care home health is usually the other option for LPNs besides LTC care. In lots of areas, unemployed RNs are getting the LTC care jobs that used to be scarfed up by LPNs.

I def. agree, It's even hard to find a LTC job because of competition with RN's :( It's tough out there!

Thanks for the info. I have done homecare, LTC, hospice, community health, assisted living and addictions. I have looked into some of the LTC jobs but they are scarce as well. Also I am a little hesitant being involved with the care of so many residents with only one nurse,44:1 is not a good balance. I have looked at corrections which I don't think I could do. Homecare has had little opportunities over the last few weeks that I have been looking.

I disagree that Maryland is phasing out LPNs but there definitely aren't as many opportunities for them as for RNs. OP, if you've done addictions, maybe you could try psych? Many utilize LPNs. Good luck.

children's national medical center in dc has a few openings advertised for LPNs. It looks like they want 3 yrs experience, 1 yr in peds, but I'm sure it's worth a look.
