Hi,

I'm a recent college grad (BA in Anthropology) and am currently taking pre-reqs so that I can enroll in an accelerated BSN program here in Philadelphia. I was wondering if anyone could offer information on the following accelerated programs:

Drexel ACE

Jefferson FACT

UPenn Accelerated BSN

I've heard alot of "chatter" through the grapevine about all of these programs, but mostly from non Nurses and I'm looking for some concrete, valid opinions.

Thanks!

I'm not sure which one is best, but when talking to my clinical instructor about my future plans, she strongly recommended ..I think she said they have a partnership with Hahneman (sp?) Hospital, but I could be mistaken. I guess your best bet is to look at all of them, and see which one appeals most to you, regardless of what others say. Good Luck!:nuke:

Have you tried posting this question in the Pennsylvania regional forum? You might get a good response there, from people who are attending one of those programs.

Hi smariej & marlo!

Marlo is correct. & Hahnemann do have a partnership. Drexel actually owns & operates Hahnemann's School of Medicine. I'm currently a Drexel ACE student, in my 3rd of 4 quarters. I'm due to graduate with my BSN in September. Personally, I feel that Drexel's ACE program is excellent, but as with any program, that depends on who you ask. People who aren't doing well in a program will probably give poor reviews, & those who are passing with flying colors will probably give great reviews. I've had amazing lecture professors & I've had mediocre lecture professors at Drexel. I've had clinical experiences at HUP, Abbington Memorial, Belmont Behavioral Health, Nazareth, Delaware County Memorial, & St. Christopher's. We are placed at different hospitals each quarter & so far I've had wonderful clinical instructors. Many of my classmates have been placed at Hahnemann, Albert Einstein, PA Hospital, Thomas Jefferson, Virtua Vorhees, Lankenau, Holy Redeemer, & many others, as well. Only you can decide which program is best for you, but I'll be glad to provide any info I can about Drexel ACE. Let me know if you have any questions that I might be able to answer.

Take care & good luck!

Hello,

You probably have made your decision by now.

I am in the midst of quarter 2 at ACE . Overall, I would say that it is a good program. However, like Jefferson, it is very condensed. This quarter I have spent 16 hours in class and 21 hours in clinical per week. Add to this over 30 hours of homework and reading. Don't forget about commuting time. If you can handle 70+ hour work week, then maybe the program is for you!

I believe with Penn you have another 6 months in their program to complete the program. Also, I believe you are eligible for institutional funds at Penn with a second degree, whereas that type of financial aid is not available at Drexel.
