Which state to take NCLEX?

Hey!

So I am currently in a BSN Program in KY but post grad I am planning to move to the Nashville area. Where should I take my NCLEX...KY or TN? Or does it matter? Our instructors haven't really covered this topic with us and I was just curious.

You can take your NCLEX Anywhere. I graduated from a school in Ohio and sat for the NCLEX in the state of Ohio but I opted out of an OH RN license. I knew I was moving to TX so I got licensed there instead. When I was visiting my husband in Missouri I even thought about testing there but still opting for a TX license.

The NCLEX is the same test no matter where you take it. What differs are the individual state requirements.

I don't think it matters where you take it, but if you plan on working in Tennessee then make sure you apply for your license in that state. Otherwise, you'll have to apply for a license by endorsement after getting your license (unless the two states are both compact states, I don't know if they are)

You can take the NCLEX anywhere. What matters is where you apply for your license. If you plan on moving and working in Tennessee right after graduation, then apply for your license through the Tennessee BON. If you're still living in Kentucky when you get approved to take the NCLEX, you can take the test in KY before you move.

Although, for your purposes, I'm not sure it matters. Kentucky and Tennessee are both part of the Nursing Licensure Compact. So if you maintain that Kentucky is your home residence, you can work in Tennessee with your KY license. If you decide to move to Tennessee, then you can transfer your primary license to TN when you move.

taking the actual nclex exam can be anywhere pearson vue (nclex testing with pearson vue) has a testing center location. in my case, i applied for a california license and sitting for the exams here in texas.
