Which cities/states are easy to find work as an NP and which aren't?

Specialties NP

Hello!

So my boyfriend/fiancee might need to relocate for his job (and leave CA) and we can choose among many different states (New Mexico, Colorado, Washington, Oregon, etc., etc.) I will be graduating from my FNP program after he relocates and thus looking for a job wherever he ends up going, but I want to make sure that wherever we decide to move to, is a good place to try and find a job for a new grad FNP. I know that some cities/states are more saturated with NPs than others, and other places are in high demand! Could you please give me advice about where to avoid? We were thinking that we would love Colorado...but from reading other posts, it sounds like its tough to get a job in Colorado because there are so many NPs! Is this true? Or any advice on any other states on either the West Coast or South West would be very helpful!!

Thanks so much!

anecdotally Washington and Colorado are saturated markets. I would avoid those if you can but you'll need to do your own homework.

That sounds a little rude, we're here to help each other...of course she knows she has to do some homework/searching of her own, she said something to that effect in her original post...

I did not mean to be rude, merely saying that I didn't have stats at my fingertips for the OP, just some anecdotal evidence for those two states. thanks for pointing fingers at a post which was not even directed at you.

and the rudeness continues.

I don't know if Utah is an option, but in my experience the job market is pretty good here. Especially if you're willing to live in a rural area, NPs are used a lot and there's always a shortage. At least, in my town (Moab) I know the hospital is always looking for folks as are some private practices. I don't have as much info about the SLC area but I know folks who worked in Park City or Ogden and said there were definitely jobs available. And if you like being outside, skiing, rock climbing, hunting, etc. you can't beat this state!

Good luck with your decision.

I think you misunderstood. Let me attempt to translate:coollook:.

Westcoastgirl was saying 'From what I've heard, the job market is saturated, but don't just take my word for it. You should check it out yourself and see what you find'
