I am trying to make sure I buy the correct book for preparing for the TEAS V? Do you suggest buying the book and practice tests? Or just finding practice tests online to complete? How does the book look? I am seeing one with (a guy wearing a plaid shirt on the cover with a laptop), Its on Amazon and its called the TEAS Review Manual Version 5, The other one is 2011 TEAS Comprehensive Study Guide that includes test, on the cover it just has 3 pencils and paper. I just want to be sure that I am getting the correct book so I can begin studying. I was going to use the correct book, McGraw-Hill nursing exam book and a bunch of websites such chem4kids, etc to help me prepare. Please let me know what is the best book and give me some feedback please, Thank you!!:)

Also for the McGraw Hill book what edition is it?? and does anyone recommend Kaplan Nursing School Exam Study Guide???

The teas review manual vers 5 is what I used. I thought it prepared me well for all sections except science. I think its a good idea to use the science websites as there was lots of chemistry on mine. Good luck.

Thank you so much, that one is cheaper too!:lol2:

Buy the ati book with the two practice tests online. Takethe first test without studying and see where you need to review. Then study those sections in the ati book. Then take the practice tests from the book. After checking answers, review again from the book those areas where weak. Finally, finish it all up by taking the second online teas. With this method, I did very well! Good luck!

I bought the ATI study guide and did good with that but a lot of people just did the practice tests online and scored really high but unfortunately for me I didn't find that out until after I had bough tthe book and couldn't afford both. So anyhow I think you could do well with either.

I would recommend taking sample tests online. That is what I did and had no problem with the TEAS test. I was not a proponent of purchasing the study guide from ATI. Although it provided a thorough explanation of the subjects, my classmates tended to get bogged down in the minutiae and the test is on general concepts for the most part. I would recommend reviewing basic percentages, decimals, algebraic word problems and basic scientific principles; also be adept at chemistry with regards to SI units, basic equations, bonding, element groups and such things.

You should remember that you are allowed a single sheet of scratch paper and no calculator, so nothing on that test is going to be too intensive. This is about assessment of basic skills.

I would also recommend that you impose a time limit on your practice tests given that the TEAS test is timed as well.

My two cents for what it is worth...

Good luck!

Thank you so much GoldenDomer 63, where or what site did you go to for taking the online tests?

Thank you so much for your input!!!

I just googled "sample TEAS test" and went through the various links provided. The tests I took gave me the answers to the problems as well. The only down side is that they didn't show you how they arrived at the answers, so you were on your own to figure them out...which kind of sucks.

I seemed to remember that here were a lot of conversions from decimals to fractions and vice-versa. Also, a lot of questions involving percentages. The science section seemed heavily weighted towards chemistry and A&P. Also a few questions regarding genetics...know your Punnett Squares.

The secret is going in confident...if you do that, you will be fine!
