I want to know which is better for a nursing prerequisite course. I got a C in statistics and my teacher told me that he gave me 10 extra points (meaning I had a D) he gave me the C instead. Should I tell him to give me the D so I can retake it for a better grade even though the D will stay on my transcript, but not hurt my GPA? And then take it and get a better grade? Or is it better to keep the C?

Yes but at my school, you can retake a class up to 4 times. All attempts will show on your transcript but only your last attempt is calculated into your GPA.

Some Nursing Programs count retakes against you if it's a pre-req. I would definitely check with the programs that you want to apply to before retaking the class.

My school will not allow you to retake classes youve passed. Other schools will let you but average your grades together, other schools as pp will let you retake and count highest grade.then of course you have to think about your commulative gpa...
In the nursing program im applying it is point based, and you must pass statistics but you receive no points for it. Meaning if you get and A or C in that class it makes no difference as long as you pass it. Long story short, research your schools program and you will be able to make the best decision based on your school. Every school is different. Good luck!

My school is similar but if you pass you can retake it, it just won't be covered by financial aid... You'll have to pay out of pocket.
