You really need to go on to a RN program, Betty. Wound care isn't just changing dressings, it's assessing the wound AND the contributing factors, the patient's ability to manage their care and their support system for this--and then develping a treatment plan and teaching how to carry it out. After becoming a RN, there are programs accredited by the Wound, Ostomy, Continence Nurses Society which are the 'gold standard' for this field. There are other 'quickie' programs for non baccalaureate prepared nurses, some may accept a LPN. I just don't think this is the way to excellence, though it probably has a place in the dismal health care scene we work in.

I understand exactly what your talking about and I always look for contributing factors ect... That's why I'm so fascinated with wounds there is so much attributed to having one it doesn't just happen there is always an underlined cause I actually am close to getting my RN maybe by the end of this year I will pass the boards but I wanted something meanwhile I could use now and still be in that specialty one way or another.
