Hi All !

Looks like I may be moving to Orlando and I was wanting some advice on nursing school/programs. I already have a 4 yr degree from Jacksonville University but in Communications minor in Sociology. I had planned to go to the community college in Birmingham Alabama for my ADN but now it looks like we may be moving back to Florida.

Any advice would be so apperciated!!! Here in Al I only had my 3 biology courses to take. BUt I think Ill have to take a couple more in FL. I just want to make sure Im not wanting on a list forever!!!

Thanks,

Stef

I live in Orlando, and I am starting the actual NP this semester. One thing I can tell you for sure.... If you dont want to be in a waiting list (and you can only get on it after you finish your pre-reqs) forget Community Colleges. I am enrolled at Florida Hospital College of Health Sciences, they do not have a waiting list. It all depends on your GPA and classes you have completed. Its not the easy to get in, but definately possible. Good Luck

The best place to get your nursing degree in Orlando is the school that accepts your application first! :roll

Really...we have a handful of excellent programs but the waitlists are incredible.

My suggestion to you and your situation, is to look into the University of Central FL's BSN program for students who already have a Bachelors. This maybe a good option since this is not the traditional route for most and may have a shorter waitlist, but I don't know that for sure.

Another "fast" option is to complete the LPN program at Seminole CC or Orlando Tech and then transfer into the Seminole or Valencia LPN to RN. (I have heard that Valencia now offers all lecture and classroom work through the internet, with clinicals of course still face to face with your instructor)

Hey all,

I have to agree w/ cbarnett2 go to the school that accepts your application first. Also if you don't mind a bit of commute you can go to Daytona Beach CC from what I have heard they don't really have a waiting list ...by the way if finances are not a problem for you and you have a really good GPA Fl Hosp college may be good for you...classes are $250 per credit hour...yep that is a lot! Be sure to check out UCF's program since you already have a degree...

good luck & all the best:)
