"Something" is going on and I don't like it.
My "fabulous opportunity" didn't exactly pan out.
The hospital wanted nurses "with more experience" than I have. Okay, I can see that, what with the huge bonus they were offering.
However.....I was surprised (?) to learn that on this busy med/surg unit, my nurse patient ratio would be 1:8 ~ doing "modified" primary care.
"Modified" because there is (sometimes) one whole CNA!
Whoop-dee-doo!
I can't imagine having to do everything for eight acute M/S patients. I've done it but it's pretty hairy.
I think hospitals are wary of the nurse :patient ratio laws and are afraid they will go into effect so they're trying to get as much out of the nurses now.......one the other hand....maybe not.
Who knows....:uhoh21:
Scary...

Sorry it didn't pan out for you, Sunstreak. Too good to be true, huh?
What with the huge sign-on bonus they were paying, they were bringing on nurses who have fifteen years or so of experience.
I don't have that much.
But frankly, eight primary care patients is what I keep running into. And it seems like no one uses LPNs or Med Techs anymore.
Yikes.
