I start at TCU this fall and we are trying to decide where to live. My wife is a nurse and she already found a job a Baylor All Saints. We have 3 small children, 2 in school, so we would like an area that has decent schools. We have found many houses to rent online, but not sure which area would be best with me at TCU.
thanks

The homes around TCU are extremely expensive. You could try the Hulen area, which is in SW FW, or go NE into Keller/Southlake/Colleyville/Grapevine area. We live in Keller and it takes me about 20 minutes to get to TCU (unless there is heavy traffic). It's middle-upper to upper class homes. Prices range from the low $200's to the millions. Schools in Keller are some of the top ranked in the state. The area is very, very quiet and low crime with lots of parks, shopping, etc. It's so family oriented here! There are some apartments, lofts, & condos here and they are very nice. There are no rundown apt's or anything around here. It's all very clean & safe. It would only take your wife about 20 minutes to get to All Saints as well. It's very lovely up in this area, so you should look into it.

I will start at TWU in the fall and I'm relocating my family (wife & son) from Louisiana. I don't know if you are staying in Fort Worth for clinicals, but I am. I chose to buy a house rather than waste money on rent for 3 years. If you don't mind living a few miles out of the city, you can buy a brand new house with a nice yard for your children, for really cheap. With your wife's income, you should be able to swing it. After exploring the area, my wife and I found the northerly region to be generally nicer and have better schools. Our house is being built and will be ready for move in by the end of June. It may be late for you to do a new build, but many of the neighborhoods nearing completion have homes ready for move-in. Good luck.

jsteele99,
We looked at the Keller area and loved it, however, because of my husband's job....we had to be on the South side. We are moving next week to Mansfield. I did a lot of research on the schools, since I also have 3 in school, and was very pleased with what I found. We found a really nice lease house because we didn't want to struggle with selling another house in an iffy market. Mansfield also has a beautiful new (12/06) hospital that I will be working a 90 day contract at that is only 5 miles from my house. The drive to TCU is approximately 20 miles and takes about 25 minutes on the average. Just a thought, if you are still looking. Good luck...... we'll see you in the fall. :nuke:
Thanks for the replies,
We are still looking. I am not staying in Ft. Worth for clinicals, so I am hesitant to buy a home at this point in time. I think we have narrowed it down to the Eagle Mountain area, Crowley, Burleson, or Mansfield. We have found many houses for rent in Eagle Mountain and Crowley. My wife is in orientation at All Saints this week and she is looking in the afternoons when she gets off.
see you guys this fall
