Where are they hiring new grads in California? Anyone have any idea?

Published

I am an RN-BSN new graduate and am having a tough time finding a new grad program in California. Does anyone know where they are hiring in California? I am living in San Jose area now and could move if needed.

I have been looking for awhile: making phone calls, submitted online applications, etc all without call backs. I am starting to get really worried!

Thanks for your help guys.

i'm confused by your post. i am a registered nurse taking courses for my bsn so i am considered a rn-bsn student. i have never heard of a rn-bsn new grad unless someone was an adn prepared rn who did not work as a rn until graduating a rn-bsn program. is this what you mean??? normally rn-bsn prepared registered nurses are considered to be experienced nurses and not new grads. or are you a bsn prepared new grad rn?

if you are an inexperienced registered nurse (with a bsn or another degree), contact hospitals in the area of interest to see when they are hiring new grads. my guess is most started hiring a few months ago for the may class. california hospitals, as with other placed in the country, have no problems attracting new grads but maybe rural areas are still looking to staff their programs? thus, try looking at the hospitals in towns and cities no one would consider living. after one or two years, then move on. if this is not of interest, try ltc in california because many are still hiring new grads and it is a way to work as a rn and still live in an area that is desirable. if you need to start part-time somewhere, then do so... take what you can get to survive.... gl!:twocents:

I am a new grad BSN. But I have already passed the NCLEX, etc so I am an RN too.

Yeah the job market is totally DRY in California, I am considering trying Texas... anyone know specifically which states/regions are in true need of nurses??

Try hospitals in Bakersfield. They were aggressively recruiting back in December.
