Where to get a BSN?

Yes, but all of the ones I know of you need to do clinicals. Nature of the beast.

I've applied and have been accepted to a degree completion program in my state, at a state university. Most of the classes are on line, with the exception of 2, which I think are the clinical components. I'll know for sure next year when I start (Fall '09). I hold a BS in Biology, so 96 credits of my degree transfer (also from a state school) towards this second degree.

I've been a nurse for 5 years in the ICU and I have a B.Sc. degree in Liberal Arts and an A.ASc. Degree in Nursing and I want to get a BSN. I thought about an MSN, but it's too expensive and there's too little return on it.

Can anyone tell me if there is an on-line college where I can get a BSN quick and easy by on-line study only and without having to do clinicals? I know that sounds irresponsible, but consider that I've already been to college, and I'm already a nurse, and I'm just trying to fill a potential square on an application some day.

go over to the distance learning forum and read the sticky rn to bsn. this is a long thread over the online bsn programs available. having said that the clinical involved is not what you think of as clinical. i read someone had to do a paper or had to follow around someone for a day...you get the hint...it is definitly not suiting up ,researching your patient and being at the hospital at 6am...

I would ask a different question: do you really need a BSN?

I got my BSN as a second degree student, but I wasn't an RN yet. At the time I believed that I would need a BSN specifically to apply to any MSN/NP programs I might be interested in. While at UNM it became clear that isn't the case. I was told that, at worst, I might not get first consideration if competing with a BSN holder; but that my BSc and other qualifications would allow me to apply like anyone else.

So, maybe you should be thinking about going right to an MSN? The only way to find out, of course, is to talk to an advisor at a program that appeals to you.
