Where to find Nursing Student Externships in GA?

Hey everyone! I'm looking for an externship for nursing students that I could do next summer, but I don't know where to start looking for applications and information. I went to a couple of hospital websites that I'm interested in externing, but I'm having a hard time finding info on the externships. I live in Gwinnett, so externing at Gwinnett Medical Center or somewhere near where I live is preferable, but I also would love to extern at Emory Univ. Hospital. Does anybody have any advice or suggestions on where I should look or whom I should be contacting?? Thanks!! :)

Emory Healthcare and St. Joseph's Hospital offers a nursing externship program called Excell for Nursing Students over the summer. I think Grady Hospital and Dekalb Medical Center offer nursing externships too.

For Emory, go to emoryhealthcare.org-->careers-->career programs and it's the 7th one on the list. For St. Joseph's, go to their website, and it's under career opportunities-->students. Good luck on applying!! And Merry Christmas :)

Alot of the hospitals hire nursing students when they either have completed med/surg or have completed their first year. They hire them in a position comparable to a CNA. This is considered a externship at many of them.

Thanks everblue, where you able to get an extern position? Do you have any information on the gwinnett medical extern program?

I called Grady, they said that Nursing Extern applications arent accepted until April (although the content is up). Does anyone know when Emory is opening their application? I have emailed/called HR and havent gotten a response.

Gwinnett Medical Center opened applications on Monday. I wanted to send mine in on Tuesday but I couldnt find the position. I called, they said they had already filled it up in one day!!
