Where Do I Start? Single Parents Help!

U.S.A. Pennsylvania

Good Day everyone, I NEED HELP!

I am 24 single mother of two, and I have been attempting to get my Nursing career off the ground for some years now. I am currently enrolled in a CNA course, but don't know if it was a good move. Are there any courses to do CNA to LPN? I wanted to apply for Jefferson's ASN/BSN program, but I don't think my math skills were up to par. Are there any other single mothers/fathers starting/have started their Nursing career? Any advice? I would apprecate it :twocents:ALL! THANK YOU!

This is how I am doing it.

Hi UMMI,

I am a single mother of a 13 year old (that is a challange within it self). I am a LPN but I am starting the RN program at St Margaret SON next month. I know that the begining weeks of LPN programs is the same as CNA.

I started taking all my prereq thru CCAC and then I applied to St Margaret SON. And it has taken me almost 3 years to get to this point. I had to sit out a few semesters due to finanicial and personal reasons.

Stay focus and you will make it.

Thank you guys for your responses.

Apoole77, I went to that link you provided and sent an email to the contact person, I hope to hear something back soon!

SouthernPeach3, my children are 3 and 2, and everyone keeps telling me, "oh wait you'll have time when they get older!" and I don't want to wait. I really want to do Nursing, helping others has always been my passion. I appreciate your words of encouragement.

Tomorrow, I am off to my second day, on my road to fulfilling my Nursing dream. Hey! I should start a blog, hmmm.....

I would try to find places to pay for you to go to school. As a CNA some facilities would pay for you to get your LPN or RN and work around your schedule. Of course, you should look into those places and make sure they would be places you would want to give that type of commitment to.

Ummi, not knowing your personal situation or your goals. But just the fact that you are on line asking, is a good indication that you are reaching for a goal. My advice is to talk to your child and explain to them that when you go to school and you will. That their patience and understanding are going to be essential if you and they are going to benefit with the increase in pay. don't worry about the math is not the hard. you only have to use in school.good luck and jump and keep us updated on your progress.
