I'm not a nurse. I'm a Medical Assistant. I got my job in a very unconventional manner. I've been told that I need to learn how to draw blood ASAP. I've looked online but no cigars. Do you guys have any ideas on where I can train for this skill? Thanks in advance
Do you work with any nurses that can teach you? Or better yet, ask your hospital or institution if they have phlebotomy classes.
In that case I would go to the person that told you that you need to learn to draw blood and ask them how you should go about that. Maybe that person has some resources that you are unaware of. I don't think reading the steps on the internet would be as practical as taking a class or learning from first hand experience. If they can't provide you with information as to where to go to learn phlebotomy then I don't see how they can expect you to do it.
I've been veinipuncture certifed for over three years now. I got my training from a nurse at a hospital. It was like an eight hour course. Call your hospital and find out if they have any classes. Also, contact your statees Medical Assistant Association. I am sure they could help.
I do not think you could learn anything useful on-line, blood drawing is very hands on...
