How many months in advance did you take your TEAS test? I'm applying for a few school this fall and spring programs too. Some of my classmates suggest a week of studying, and some suggest study a year ahead. Also, are the practice test free on any sites, or do they all cost money for practice tests?

I started studying for mine right after Thanksgiving last year and took the exam in mid-January, so a month and a half to two months is about the time I spent studying for it. As for practice exams, you can get 2 free ones included with the official ATI Review Manual . ATI also offers online ones but they're $40 or $50 apiece, I think, which is steep and, personally, they were way harder than the exam itself, so...you may get them and stress yourself out with the difficulty, but it's your call. I bought only one of them, but still did fine on my exam. The book itself would probably be sufficient, but there's also this book as well. Hope that helps, and good luck!

I took mine about a month in advance of one of my application dates... I recommend going to your local library and picking up "TEAS" labeled practice books and touching up on subjects. I had a friend give me one practice book(TEAS V EXAM Secret Study Guide) which I didn't look at until the night before.. To be honest the test isn't as bad as everyone thinks and the practice questions are definitely a bit more difficult than the actual test imo. Good luck!

I CRAMMED for 2 weeks prior to the exam. I purchased the TEAS ATI study guide book and the Mcgraw-hill book for practice questions. Get used to the format of the ATI book, it closely resemble all the primary "go to" info for many nursing programs. A side note, your TEAS score makes you competitive, so you want to shoot for a high score!

I enrolled at Keiser for my prereqs, signed up at the same time for TEAS. Took it the next week after two days of studying. Needed TEAS for the interview to get into the program. Seats fill up quickly and I had an agenda. Start prereqs SEPT 2014 and start nursing JAN 2015. I passed TEAS on one try. Fellow prereqs students put off taking TEAS and then complained about not getting into the program. Take TEAS as soon as possible. Even if you don't pass, you'll know what the test is like.

Have you taken your pre-reqs recently? If no, then allow for more time to study. If yes, then it will not take along since it is more of a refresher. I spent two weeks studying, of which one week I had no school and studied full-time. As I went through the ATI book, I marked down any subject I didn't feel 100% to look up more info. With regards as to when to take the test, my school had set up dates that coincided with cut-off dates to have results turned in. I was assured that even though the dates were a couple months past application time, that it was still fine.
