When to start applying for jobs

I am a senior level BSN student and will be graduating in May. I want to get into pediatrics, which I've heard is tough to get into as a new grad. When should I start applying for jobs? I'm seeing jobs available in peds now but I don't know if the hospitals around me post new grad jobs separately and when these new grad jobs go up. How did you guys work through the application process?

Contact the hospital. Most only want to talk to those in his/her last semester of school so you may need to wait until after Christmas. GL!

Specializes in MICU, ER.

I didn't graduate until 9/19, but I applied in April and had an offer by May1, and didn't start until two weeks ago. I knew the position that I wanted and knew that LOTS of new grads wanted it too so I applied early. GOOD LUCK!!
