For those of you who were hired as a new grad on a unit at the same time as one or more other new grads, how was the relationship between the new grads? Was it supportive or competitive?

I started with TONS of new grads. We were all very supportive of each other. I didn't see any reason to be competitive, and based on attitude, no one else did either.

I was hired at the same time as another new grad. We were on opposite eveining shifts for the first few years, so we didn't develop much of a relationship. Now we work frequently together and she is one of my best friends.

My experience being hired with another couple of new grads has been great. I was hired at the same time as one girl and there was also one who had been there for a couple of months already.

The girl that I was hired with was great, because she was a person who could kind of see things "from the outside" like me, for example, I could go to her and ask things like "do you think its weird that they do things this certian way here?" The girl that had been there a couple of months was a great resource for little things like finding supplies, or figuring out the computer charting system if my preceptor was busy, because I never felt stupid going to her with simple questions I felt like I should know the answer to.
