When should I call?

Nursing Students CNA/MA

I graduated from my CNA program and I filled out applications to hospitals this Monday, but now it's Friday and I haven't heard anything except an email from one of the hospitals I applied to saying they don't hire new grads. How long should I give time before I call in asking the staus of my application or are most hospitals 'if we don't call you, assume you weren't qualified?'

when i apply anywhere no matter what job i usually call about 3 days later, tell them my name, and that i turned in an app, and ask if they are hiring

Ditto.

Call a few days after. Ask to speak to the DON directly. And even if they are busy leave a message on voicemail.

You can always go to HR and ask them. I did both for the job i just got offered. I think i went in first and then called to speak to the DON. When they called to interview me it was the DON who called, not her sect or assistants (2 of them).

I know how you feel, I have been through the same thing of appliying and then getting an email saying "thank you for your intrest in joining our team" them after a week or so ....nothing is heard from them about coming in for an interview, then I re-apply AGAIN & still go through the samed thing. I hatte it when they do that. IF WE ARE IN SUCH NEED,,THEM WHY DO YOU NOT CALL US IN FOR INTERVIEWS MORE OFTEN? Why do you always hear " nurses in need " but.....they do not call us in for intervieas a week after appling???
