I'm a first year nursing student, going for my RN. I know at a certain point before I graduate, I'll be eligiable to take the LPN nclex, and I was wondering if anyone knows how far along that would be. It would make more sense to me to become an LPN while I'm still going to school for my RN, just to kind of get my foot in the door, and get more practice.

Actually, you can't necessarily challenge the LPN. It depends on your state, and your school.
I would suggest emailing your BON. NYS replies very quickly.

Yeah, you better call your BON first thing in the morning for a prompt response. NY stopped that a year or two ago.
