Hello all! I am taking my pre-reqs at Thomas Nelson Community College but am debating when to apply for nursing school. I currently work full time and will be finished with my pre-reqs in the spring of 2010. TNCC offers a spring and fall semester.... I was thinking of applying in the fall for the spring semester but I worry about being accepted because they only accept 10 applicants. Should I apply in the spring for the fall semester? I will be finishing my final pre-req and I worry that I'm pressing my luck if I apply in the fall. I wanted to spend that summer studying for the NET. Any advice?

I think you should apply as soon as you can rather than wait, you will be put on a waiting list if you don't get in the first time. Better to be on top of that list! And if you're GPA is high I wouldn't worry...do you have any nursing experience? LPN's have the choice of an accelerated track, they're put on top of the list too. Hope that helps.

I too am applying for this next fall at UVa and VCU, as well as PVCC. I am hoping for the best.
Good luck everyone, Tim

best of luck to all of you applying for nursing school!!
when deciding when to apply, you'll first want to talk to the schools you're planning on applying to.
some schools do rolling admission ("first come, first served" so to speak). others wait until all applications are in at deadline to review (vcu does this). some schools are dealing with a year-to-year waiting list. some schools do not ever carry a year-to-year waiting list (again, vcu falls into this category.
again, your best option is always going to be contacting the school directly. admissions criteria and deadlines are always subject to change and it's best to get that information directly from the source!
please let me know if you have any questions directly related to vcu!!
happy holidays!!
