Whats wrong with working in a nursing home?

Nursing Students LPN/LVN Students

I have heard a lot of people discourage becoming a LVN saying that the only jobs available for LVNs are in nursing homes. I'm not sure if its only in Texas, but I wouldn't mind working in a nursing home as long as I'm helping people. Is there something I don't know?

Here in GA, as a new grad LPN you can work in LTC , Dr's offices, and private care. After working in LTC for a year you can find jobs in home health, dialysis centers, some Cancer tx centers, and hospices. Yes there are nursing homes that are under-funded, but there are some that are not. Just have to weed thru, and find the good ones. I plan on sticking it out for at least a year in LTC so that I can move on to what I want to do, hospice or home health care. Fell in love with hospice as a CNA and love doing wound care! As an LPN you will do, practice, and learn a lot of procedures (trach care, foley cath, starting IVs, blood draw, etc,) in the LTC facilities. Also here, LTC facilities may more than Dr's offices. But pay isn't everything😄
