Whats the difference?

what is the difference between accredited and approved schools? i just don't understand this. i am starting in sept for the bridge lpn to rn adn program. the school is fully approved? i look at other schools and they are accredited. after i am finished i can sit for nclex rn (obviously) but do employers look at wheather you graduated from an aproved or accredited school? another question has any one heard about rets tech in centerville ohio? i posted on it but no response thanks.

I would ask who they were approved by? Accredited USUALLY means national accreditation. Approved by means who knows what???

As to what it means to employers? If you have sat and passed the NCLEX you shouldn't have a problem getting a job. However, there are programs that lead to the NCLEX that some states don't recognize. I would ask lots of questions.

JJT--I go to RETS, I'll be starting my second semester Sept. 5th. Basically, accreditation means that your credits from RETS can transfer to other schools, such as if you wanted to complete your baccalaureate degree. Actually, KCMA and RETS already have agreement to this effect, but having accreditation would give you more choice and gives RETS more recognition as a more reputable college. Accreditation does not affect your eligibility to sit for NCLEX-RN and I hardly believe it would matter to an employer once you are licensed. RETS just graduated their first RN class so they should be just about ready to take their boards. I hope that answers your questions!
