whats the difference ?

does anyone know the difference between an associates degree nurse and and the diploma or degree nurses in the uk. im very confused as ive seen numerous nurses with this degree from the states working in the uk, but when i read the nmc website it says a 2 year degree wont be approved. can anyone help me with this as i really want to work in the uk next year and will be very disapointed if not able too. please any help will be appreciated.

it has to do with hours in each subject-they do accept a 3 yr degree. it helps if you have taken extra courses to make up the extra year. I have a PIN no. and an associalte's degree,but i was first an LPN and that course was 6 quarters,then got my RN and that was 5 quarters and also had extra courses in psych and management. I have my registration,but there seem to be no jobs right now,so save your money and hassle. It took me over a year to get licensed and if you try now,you will have to take an adaptation course at your own expense before you will even be considered for registration.

thanks for the info. is one quarter the same as a semester? i was hopeing they would take into consideration the time spent in school in the lpn program, which i have done also, but it was only a year long including the summer, and i am now currently in the RN program that is also a year including the summer, and also have the time spent getting all the prerequisites for the program. i wont apply till middle of next year so hopefully there will be jobs then, and good luck to you finding a job and thanx again !
