What's the best school in the Orlando area

U.S.A. Florida

Published

Hello, I'm new to allnurses so please forgive me if I post this in the wrong section. I'm looking to start school to become an RN. Any suggestions on the best place to go in the Orlando area?

Also, I plan to move to New Jersey in a few years. I'm hearing that RN's get paid less in the state of Florida as opposed to other states. Is this going to be a problem when I move to NJ? Will they consider me to have "less skills" than someone who earned their degree in New Jersey?

Thank you so much for your help in answering my questions...I'm currently a fish out of water.

Specializes in dialysis.

From the students at clinicals that I have observed, I have been the most impressed with the students from Valencia

cc. As for the new nurses just graduating, all of the are very competent. However, my hospital puts them all through a nurse training program of a year with a preceptor so that all graduate nurses are on the same level.

Hope that this helps you and good luck.

Specializes in ICU / PCU / Telemetry / Oncology.

Depends what degree you're looking to pursue. The University of Central Florida offers a BSN which I hear is very competitive. For ADN you have several options, there's Valencia as mentioned above, and you also have programs @ Seminole CC and Florida Hospital College of Health Sciences. I don't think you will be at a disadvantage by getting your education outside of NJ. As long as you do well in school and pass your NCLEX that is all that should matter. I am in the same boat as you in that I hope to earn my BSN at UF and thereafter relocate home to the NY/NJ area.
