Was just reading a thread on here about IV vs PO meds for nausea,
and it took me back to my salad days as a nurse, lol. 13 years ago

our nausea medications of choice were Phenergan and Anzemet,
both IV.
Nowadays we mostly give Zofran. Back when I started, again,
13 years ago :), Zofran was mostly given on the OB/L&D unit.
These days, I know that Phenergan is rarely given IV anymore,
and we don't even give it PO very often. But what happened to
Anzemet? Seems like I gave Anzemet more than anything else.
Wonder why it isn't given much anymore.

Seems like I gave Anzemet more than anything else.
I stopped giving it because it came in those dumb .5 ml amps that were a hassle to work with. There was as much medicine in the pop off part of the amp as there was I the vial itself. An unnecessary struggle to get it to fall into the vile. When Zofran came out with the 2 ml flip top vials, I switched.
