When you hear Women's Health Unit, what does it mean to you?
OBGYN, or all women with any health condition (medsurg, chest pain, bowel obstruction, post-op, etc).

OB/Gyn.
That's what I thought too.

My women's care unit is mostly ante- and postpartum, but we do take postops sometimes if we have beds (we usually don't). Most of the postops are hysterectomies of all sorts, maybe an appy or a lap chole. I have also had pts with Crohn's or other IBS exacerbation, but that is few and far between.
But on a women's health unit, you wouldn't (or shouldn't) be expected to take a patient s/p MI, if that's the kind of question you're asking.

Our "Women's and Childrens" unit is L&D/post partum/ante partum/ female type surgery and over flow of "healthy" young women of the non complicated med/surg type. I was there post gall bladder removal and after a particulary bad asthma attack. But then again we are a small community hospital.

The main objective of Women's Health Unit is optimal health and well-being for all women of reproductive age.
The hospitals promote health and wellness by facilitating a continuum of health care services, education and support for women of reproductive age. It also include treatment of some basic health problems which mostly women suffer.
