What if you want to work 3/12 shifts a week?

I keep going back and forth. I do not want to work 5 days a week in a doctor's office. I want to work 3/12 hour shifts a week. Maybe ER, Maybe Hospitalist, Maybe ICU, just don't know. Which NP degree do you think is more marketable for 12 hour shifts?

Specializes in allergy and asthma, urgent care.

I work 4/10s in a clinic as an FNP. I have yet to see an outpatient job for 3/12s, primarily because most offices or outpatient settings aren't open 12 hours. I think your best bet is going for ACNP as that prepares you to work in a hospital or ER, where you're more likely to find 12 hour shifts.

I worked urgent care in the past that was open from 7-7. Right now I work in a hospital on a diabetes management team and do 12-hour shifts. I'm an ANP.

Specializes in ACNP-BC, Adult Critical Care, Cardiology.

I do 3 12-hour shifts a week as a nurse practitioner in a Critical Care Medicine service covering Adult Med-Surg, Cardiovascular, and Neuro ICU's. We have 12 NP's on the team all trained as ACNP's.
