I was just curious as to what you guys originally had in mind prior to nursing school/clinical placements compared to what you have decided/want to do now that you've had some experiences on the different floors.
I still haven't found my passion yet, although I've only done long term care and maternity rotations thus far.
Before I started nursing school, I wanted to work in the NICU. Going through rotations in school I found I most definitely did not like med/surg and still wanted to do NICU when I graduated. After working for a couple of years I landed a spot in the float pool for women/children services and actually working as a nurse in the NICU was not everything I had envisioned when I was there as a student nurse. But now I have found a true passion for women's health and am starting a WHNP program. You never know what life is going to throw at you! All of your experience is valuable, regardless of where you are :) you'll find your niche I'm sure!

I've been attracted to public health nursing a lot. I also dream about ped oncology. (Although in adult oncology I didn't feel like it was fast paced enough but I only had two days). I'm in the very beginning so I'm going to look fwd to finding out what I discover I really love.
