What do you use under CPAP?

What do you use under your CPAP masks/prongs to protect the skin? Mepilex, duoderm, etc. Just looking to see what most places are using. Do you have to cut it to fit their face. Thanks

Depends on the facility. I worked at a childrens hospital that didn't out anything under, but rotated between prongs and mask every 4 hours. I now work at a facility where they cut a piece of mepilex lite or mepitel to fit under the mask. My experience at the children's hospital was that as long as you did a thorough skin check with each assessment and rotate the mask and prongs q4 hrs, we did not have any skin breakdown under the mask.

CPAP face mask may be irritating, and this irritation can be more serious with patients who have sensitive skin.  To help prevent this from happening, wash your face every night before putting on your CPAP mask. you can also use nasal covering liners if you have sensitive skin.

CPAP Mask Gel
Cloth Mask
Eye Mask
