What is University of Lousiana at Lafayette nursing program like?

U.S.A. Louisiana

Hi, everyone. Is there anyone who has attended UL nursing program? What is the required gpa? What is the admission process? Do you have to take pre requisite courses? Does it's reputation of being hard hold true? Just need as much info on the program as possible I am hoping to get in for the spring semester.

I applied to ULL only because they are nationally accredited and relatively affordable tuition. I submitted all my transcript electronically to their etranscript mail box but their address was wrong and I had to do all over again with additional payment. Admission counselor there did not even care about my application process and I had to start all over again to send the transcripts which was not easy at all. And it has passed almost two months in vain and I ended up cancelling my application. ULL is not online friendly institution and I was not sure I could finish their program which they say "100% online?" I don't buy their assertion at all!!! Nurses! Don't even try this school because you will just waste your money and time!!!

I started this program in October of 2014 and will hopefully finish in December of 2015. I am in the RN to BSN program with a previous B.S. It is completely 100% online and the professors are helpful. I found everyone easily accessible and willing to listen to your questions. Most classes consist of 3-4 discussion forums with one reply and maybe 1-3 papers or projects in a 7 week period. You know all due dates at the beginning of the class and most follow the same schedule as far as due dates (Tues, Thurs, and Fri). ULL just had the most student enrollment for this month, it is a growing program that should be considered.

I will add to this, but I saw another thread singing their praises. I am in my second week and I am not happy. When I researched BSN programs, I thought this one was reasonably priced and flexible. They have since raised their tuition. Worse, they will only accept a certain number of credits forcing you to take all of theirs, you WILL pay $9500. They are requiring I take an art course even though I have Humanities courses and language... none of which they gave me credit for.

There is no instruction. The professor slaps a few power point presentations on the website that came from the book and do nothing but outline the chapters. She is curt with all the discussion forums and students are asking the same questions over and over because she doesn't answer them clearly. She answers in a manner that makes one feel like an idiot, but I find it hard to believe we are all idiots. Writing assignments are ambiguous and the parameters are unrealistic. She forgot to attend her own live discussion. She failed to release access to quiz material once the quiz is complete and yet told me to read over the answers (which she did not set up for review).

The website is not user friendly. You can not call the financial aid office, you can only email, and they communicate in the briefest of terms giving only minimal information --in fact, my last question was replied to without a specific answer.

I am sorry I enrolled. There are so many programs out there. I do not recommend this one at all. Check with your employer to see if they have a relationship with an institution. Good luck.
