What type of job to have while doing MSN/MBA

Hey Guys,

I want to go back to school to get my MSN/MBA dual degree (online) and I'm trying to figure out what area would be best for me to work in... Due to family circumstances, I am leaving my current job in a Cardiac ICU to move closer to home. I did not enjoy 12 hour shifts, but I absolutely hated nights. I'm having to find a job and want to use this opportunity to work in a different area. I think I would like a clinic setting better, but the hours are M-F 9-5. I think I would do better with that consistency, but I also don't want to miss out on opportunities a hospital might present to me after I finish my degree(s). But is it worth it to work in a hospital when I know I don't like it? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

When I started my MSN program I went to part time for a year because I needed more time for school. After one year I went back to full time because I need to work at least 30 hours/week in terms of money. I work regular work hours and no weekend, which does not necessarily translate in more time for school. Sometimes I am so tired and worn out after the work day that it is hard to focus and motivate for school. It is easier for me on days I do not work because I get up early to work on school stuff and feel fresh in the morning. The long days with 12 hour shifts and on call started to get hard for me, which is the reason I wanted to work more regular hours. But if you have a job you do not like ( or the environment) it can be hard to stay with it.

I'm thinking to start my MSN too and applied for a school nurse position. The hours are great. The pay not so much but I guess you give up one thing going for the other. Like no weekends or holidays.
