Hi all,
I've been a member of this site for quite some time now, but this is my first post. So hi everyone! (Love this place btw) I'm enrolled at a community college, and I have about 2-3 semesters left of prereqs to complete before I can apply to a ADN nursing program. I mean it when I say that pursuing this career is my passion :redpinkhe
My registration day for the fall semester is tomorrow, and I wanted to know what you guys think of what I plan to take:
1. Anatomy (OR A&P 1 depending on what I can get)
2. Math - Intermediate algebra
3. Sociology
4. Yoga
I've actually fulfilled my p.e. requirements for my college, I just like yoga
Do you guys think this is doable? I also have a part time job, but once fall semester starts I'll probably be working weekends only.
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated :)

This is VERY doable. I don't think you'll have a hard time with that class load. You will do fine. If you have trouble with math just make sure you take advantage of the schools tutor program or sometimes they have free help if you ask the dean of students office or library for information and make sure you do the math problems every day. Math is all about practice it is not as hard as people make it. You can NOT cram for math it is practice makes perfect with Math.
Anatomy just study, study, study and buy an Anatomy coloring book those usually help some people. Sociology is an EASY course so that should be an easy A, but if you need help with that or writing papers contact the English department at your school.
Always seek help when you think you need it ASAP don't wait until the last minute or the middle of the semester. You should know if you need help before midterms comes around.
Good luck I think you will do fine.

I agree, definitely doable! It'll be nice to have some variety in the material you're learning. Math, A&P, and Sociology are all SO different and learned in different ways. I think problems arise when you try to take too many of the difficult core nursing school pre-requisites at once, like, for example, taking A&P, micro, and chemistry all at once, or something of that ilk. And then you will have the yoga to clear your mind!

I'm pretty sure this is considered a "light" load by any standard. You can probably accelerate your pace quite a bit by adding another science since you're only working part-time.
A&P
Chemistry or Micro
Sociology
Math
Yoga (essentially a leisure class)
Seems to be a more typical and "balanced" schedule.
If you were working full-time then your original schedule is probably more appropriately paced.

that is a pretty easy schedule.

Yoga??? Oh, you're going to need that class to get a breather from A&P. But, yeah you'll be fine with that class load.
A few semesters back mine was:
A&P 1-A
Microbiology-B+
Sociology-A
Psychology-A
Thanks for the input guys! The last school counselor I talked to had me worrying excessively over 'overloading my schedule'. Now I'm feeling more encouraged to add mircobiology onto my schedule as well. I miiight switch up yoga for aerobic fitness/weight training, or just do both, but I'll worry about that a bit less compared to my other classes.

This is BEYOND doable. Not downing your workload, but this should be a breeze. My fall courses are:
survey of drugs and addiction
algebra
a & p 1
developmental psych
