Just came from UDS site. Many people were taken ahead of me. (I had appt). Then the tech didnt press split screen so I wouldnt take single spec cup from her. I just stated its split. She said there wasnt an option. I showed her where it was so she snapped up papers and my license and went to other room. It was taking some time and 2 other techs asked if I hsd been helped. I told them the desk and the first tech came back and minimized computer screen while I stood there. A few minutes later she came in and reopened it and clicked what I had shown her. Finally to the urine, she didnt put blue in toilet and when I came out and handed her my urine she put in split cups then instructed me to go back to toilet and pour out the rest. I did but now realize she hadnt sealed the cups. I came back and proceeded to wash my hands and she reprimanded me because she didnt say to. So I signed and touched all her stuff without washing. She put paperwork on another counter for me to initial. I said thank you and she started singing ignoring me. I am so steamed. I spent an hour and a half on a 5-10 minute process. Not to mention chain of custody wasnt exactly to code...i am a patient and a customer. I have never had a patient discard their own specimen left overs. Would you get over it or ???

Oh I guess I could have thought of a lot of places the dump that speci cup. BUT, sound like you did the right thing, you do have to go back there yaknow. Sometimes the hardest thing about keeping good Karma is putting up with people that treat you with no respect. Peace
This is me...getting over it.

I would actually notify IPN if it was me. It's not to get anyone in trouble, but to report that things weren't done correctly. Thank goodness you advocated for yourself; if it was a new person that maybe didn't know better or who was trusting or timid, etc., the single specimen would have been done and guess who would have suffered the consequences? Sure not the lab tech. That deviation from protocol is disturbing and could potentially cause problems for the "donor". Furthermore, you are a customer and no one has the right to treat you with any less respect than any other customer. If she continues to behave in that manner, I'd report her (and then switch labs!). It annoys me how some of the techs at my lab treat me with some sort of condescension, like I'm the town drunk (picture Otis on Andy Griffith!). I don't let on that it's annoying as there's no point to it, but the behavior you just had to endure was beyond the pale. Here's another thought, I meet once a week with a group of nurses led by a IPN appointed therapist, so I'm assuming you do as well...maybe you could discuss it in your group and get their input.
