Hello Everyone,

I want to get some advice on my situation. I am heading into the last year of school before applying to Nursing School. I didn't do well 2007-2008 school year. My mother had passed away. I have had a lot of time to heal (almost a year), but I don't think no one would be able to heal totally. I miss her everyday and wish I could feel her beautiful hands. I know I must move on. My mother knew that I had a desire to get educated and become a Nurse. Well, I am ready to continue to get that BSN degree. I'm hoping also to get my NP. I have been thinking a lot about quitting my present job and concentrating full-time on my studies. I work @ a hospital in the Oncology Unit. I love this job and I am hoping that when I get my degree I will be able to work here for about a year or so. I do love Nursing, but FOR ME 12 hour shifts and studying just won't be a good idea. My education is basically paid for. I did get a GPA grant, which allows me to attend full-time. I am bless for this. I was also told by my counselor that I will be on a conditional status with financial aid, because last year. So, I took two summer classes which end Sept 2 and I registered for the fall, which starts Sept 25. I have to work my butt off to show myself that I can make a positive change. I don't think I can do this working a full-time job. I have to totally concentrate. I am an okay student, but in order for me to be a outstanding student I have to focus on school. So is anyone out there have any ideas for me. What should I do? I do have children 6. I have eight, but three are grown. I really need to make a better life for us. I only receive 11.00 an hour @ the hospital. I have been trying to find information on working from home. Does anyone know any websites that I can work from home. I have been also looking into home based business. Please if anyone can give me some advice. I would rather quit my job and concentrate on Nursing. Thanks everyone.

God Bless,

Carla

Hi again!

I'm finishing my BSN next spring.. (last year!) I got my LVN in August 2006 and entered into BSN in Jan 2007. And for the first 6 months I worked as a home health peds lvn. I liked the work... since I was in school I only worked 8 hours on saturdays during school. (And I had to persuade my work to let me do that schedule since they wanted me full time!) But I said no way.. I was continuing my education and I had to put my foot down. Have you looked into home health? I left my company that I worked with because they pretty much screwed me over a situation that happened (long story but I won't work for that company again). So home health would be great because you can work per diem and you can choose to have the same case or work where you are needed....The situation allowed me to focus more on school (things happen for a reason!) but now I feel like I want to start working in a hospital......let me know if you have any questions!
